We are thrilled to provide Teen Participants in The First Tee of the Sandhills a chance to engage in a unique winter curriculum series away from the golf course! These monthly offerings have been hand picked as a tie in to our Eagle Level Curriculum and are focused on Family, Mind, Vision, School, Friends and Community.
Each curriculum opportunity will take place during the months of December to March with the first four (4) topics being covered to include,
Stay Well for Life | December 12 | Golf Pride HQ | 5:30pm – 7:30pm
From Inside the Ropes: Health Strategies to Improve Performance: Join us at Golf Pride’s new Global Innovation Center for an evening filled with performance insights. Learn from Golf Pride’s Global TOUR rep. about fitness and nutrition habits of the world’s best golfers. We’ll cover strategies for health success before, during and after your round, while having a fuel filled meal and other fun activities. Don’t miss this special opportunity to connect with industry insiders who can help you perform your best!
Preparing for the Future | January 18 | Fayetteville State University | 1:00pm – 6:00pm
Teens will have the unique opportunity to prepare for their next phase of life by participating in a hands on experience with Stifel Investments Vice President, Stuart Augustine, while he walks through an engaging financial literacy course that is sure to be both eye opening, rewarding and creating and opportunity for teens to take on their own budget – while being successful! During their time at FSU, teens will participate in a campus tour, be provided dinner and attend a men’s basketball game.
Conflict Resolution | February 22 | Location & Time TBA
As our participants journey through the teen years and into adulthood, they will undoubtedly encounter conflict. Effective conflict management is an essential skill and when harnessed productively can be a force to build integrity, increase confidence, and practice good judgement. By understanding how to navigate challenging conversations with peers and supervisors, participants will learn how to implement a problem-solving approach that will strengthen relationships and results. We are excited to provide this unique opportunity and to continue arming our youth with effective ways to be great! We hope you will join us!
Diversity, Go To Teams & People | Details TBA
Teens will participate in the National Athletic Village Obstacle Course, led by a local experienced team builder, while being pushed to conquer the challenges ahead in a team environment. Post challenge course, they will come together to discuss a Good, Better, How on how they encountered, and conquered, Diversity and how this will be applied to life.
These planned activities will be led by community members with direct life and professional experience in the area of interest. Each activity will be a $10 investment per teen. Scholarships are available on a need basis.
Activities will be open to teens on a first come, first reserve basis. We ask only teens who have participated in Life Skills Curriculum programs at The First Tee (PLAYer, Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace) register.
