LOCAL TEEN(S) SELECTED TO ATTEND AUNTIE ANNE’S
LEADERS & ENTREPENUERS FORUM AT WALT DISNEY WORLD
Pinehurst, NC (Thursday, September 3) – Courtney Jingle and John Rea from The First Tee of the Sandhills have] been selected to attend Auntie Anne’s Leaders & Entrepreneurs Forum in Orlando, Fla. Oct. 22-25. The national opportunity is offered through The First Tee home office for 50 teen participants from chapter network.
The three-day forum, held at the Walt Disney World Resort, will introduce participants to interactive sessions covering career development and community leadership from executives and franchisees of Auntie Anne’s – the world’s largest soft pretzel chain. They will also learn about the franchising business model and what it is like to own and operate an Auntie Anne’s store.

John Rea, a High School Senior, is dually enrolled at Sandhills Community College where he is actively working to pursue his goal of a bachelor’s degree in Business. Active at The First Tee of the Sandhills since the chapter’s inception in 2003, John enjoys coaching junior participants and assisting at special events for the chapter. John also enjoys volunteering his time at The Haven – Friends for Life No – Kill Animal Shelter as well as being an Alter Server during weekly mass at his church.
When reflecting on his selection, John Rea said, “I am very excited to be granted this opportunity to be taught more about what I love, entrepreneurship and development. I’m eager to learn and hear from the professionals about how they achieved success and their processes. I’m thankful to The First Tee for providing us these wonderful opportunities throughout the year.”
Courtney Jingle, a sophomore at Pinecrest High School, joined The First Tee of the Sandhills four year ago. Courtney is currently a member of the Varsity Golf Team and enjoys giving back to The First Tee through junior coach opportunities with our younger participants. Additionally, she spend time supporting Stop Hunger Now by packaging meals that will feed people in need. This is Courtney’s first time being selected to attend a national participant opportunity with The First Tee!
“I have anxiously been waiting to hear from the selection committee about this year’s Auntie Anne’s forum. It’s a thrill to have been selected to attend this national event. I am looking forward to learning about becoming an entrepreneur as we hear many stories of trials and success. In addition, it will be fun to make new friends with participants from other chapters of The First Tee across the country” said Courtney Jingle when asked about her reaction to being selected to attend.

This is a unique opportunity for youth to participate in an interactive life skills development event and we are confident it will spark new ideas and interest for John and Courtney as they begin preparing for their next chapter off the golf course.”
