Typically classes are offered 32 weeks of the year at our host facility The Country Club of Whispering Pines. Our Chapter collaborates with area several schools including Carthage Elementary, Southern Middle School, West End Elementary.
Currently 9 classes are offered through out the week. Summer of 2010 classes run all day Saturdays, with classes on Wednesday and Friday evenings as well.
Our Trained and screened volunteer coaches involve participants to in the game consistent with their ability. The more they participate, the more they improve both there understanding of golfs rules and etiquette as well as the inherent values such as honesty, respect, and perseverance.
We try to make every class fun and active. The greatest thing about golf is that it is fun to play.
Our coaching method encourages a doing versus telling approach. The First Tee Life Skills curriculum was developed by leading PhD's in the fields of childhood development and sports psychology.
All golfers, no matter their ability will begin in the age appropriate PLAYer Level. As they attend and embrace The First Tee curriculum, they will "certify" and move through the different levels of The First Tee. The levels currently available are PLAYer, Par, Birdie, Eagle and ACE.
